Anybody working @Not So-So who dares to pronounce the word “Buzz“, “Angel” or “Hero” gets fired; yes even the guys with the money, it’s in our shareholders-agreement. –>

Ana

February 20th, 2007

While we are struggling through the last days of development, we found a second breath to negotiate a contract with a thrilling person: today Ana Paredes officially joins our team.
Ana is a museologist by training, ‘Carioca da gema’ and currently living in Toronto. Aside from helping us spread the Not So-So word in the Americas, she will become the Not So-So community manager, which we desperately need as Ana puts it herself:

Nothing makes a user more disappointed and upset as bad communication with the web-service they want to trust and rely on. Its the worst marketing a company can do for itself in general, but in the case of communities it grows even bigger. Considering the main aspect of a relations website is the establishing of communication, the way to complain on such a site is by protesting on your own page when not getting a response from the administration - which is bound to generate a domino effect that can lead to hurries in explanations of bad functionality, and users leaving the service for good and spreading the bad word around.
And here is where the figure of the community manager comes. A worker detached from the ownership of the business but still in direct touch with the management, who can understand the need of the users, many times solving the problems by itself, and when not able to redirecting it to whose competence it belongs. A mediator who will prevail in defending the point of view of the user while working along to improve the site services and upgrades. And also, a human image of the site, easy to reach and talk to.

And last but not least: Toronto and Rio de Janeiro are cities which are hard to resist; keep an eye on Ana’s tips.
